It’s that spooky time of year when monsters come out to play. Ghosts appear from the dark to say hello and black cats are a sign of good luck. Have you seen any skeletons or witches around? Well get scavenger hunting! Going around your neighborhood on a scavenger hunt is a great form of exercise and a fun activity with your family and friends. Do the hunt as one group OR split your family/class/group and use our guide to search for Halloween items around your neighborhood or building. Make it a race to see who finds items in the shortest amount of time!
If you are having the scavenger hunt outside, it is a great time to practice how to be safe while trick-or-treating on Halloween night. Make sure you always have an adult with you. Walk, do not run, use sidewalks and wear reflectors on your clothing! If the streets are dark, bring a flashlight.
Guidelines:
- Buddy system-grab a buddy in your group and make sure to stay together.
- You have 45 minutes to find all the spooky items on the list.
- If you are one group, you are done here.
- If you are playing in teams, everyone should come back together once 45 minutes is up. Who found the highest number of items on the list? The winners get a prize:
Plan and prepare prizes. Perhaps your prize is a piece of candy for every item you find! Or cupcakes from a Kitchen Ink recipe (found on our website, socials, or cookbooks).
BONUS: Take pictures during your scavenger hunt, post an Instagram story, tag @kitcheninkpublishing and we will repost your adventure!
Happy hunting!
