Chocolate Chip Cookies
Makes 2 dozen (24) cookies
½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
½ cup sugar
¼ cup brown sugar, packed
1 large egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1¾ cups all-purpose flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In large bowl, beat butter, sugar, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
3. Add flour, baking soda, and salt and mix until well blended. Dough should be soft and a bit sticky.
4. Mix in chocolate chips.
5. Drop by rounded 1½ teaspoons spaced 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
6. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until cookies are set. Cook for less time for softer cookies.
7. Cool on cookie sheets before transferring to wire rack to cool completely.
